about Sophia

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF: I was born into a Peruvian family in Queens, New York. I started drawing at a young age and continued with the encouragement from my family, especially my mom. I moved to Westfield during elementary school but still regularly go to the city to visit family. Currently I am a junior in Westfield High School and have two wonderful younger sisters that very kindly allow me to use them as a drawing reference.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR HOLIDAY WINDOW: This painting depicts the first and second Home Alone movies. While people absolutely remember the funny moments of the bandits getting horribly injured and Kevin's smugness, the heart of these movies are friend and familial bonds continuing to the lovely nostalgic feel of these films.

WHAT ARTIST OR TYPE OF ART INSPIRES YOU: An artist that inspires me is Van Gogh and a type of art that inspires me is Peruvian art, specifically its vibrant colors.

FAVORITE SONG/MOVIE : Right now my favorite song "Somethin' Stupid" by Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO AT THE CENTER FOR CREATIVITY :One thing I'd be excited to attend is a workshop for pottery or painting.
